Why is it, that every four years, after we lose another world cup we insist that we need a new coach. Think about the rugby coaching talent that we are turfing out.
Consider the last 3 All Black coaches that took us to world cups
2003 - John Mitchell - gone and now coaching Australians
1999 - John Hart - gone and now is the Director of football for the Warriors rugby league club.
1995 - Laurie Mains - gone and had coaching stints in South Africa and Otago.
Think of the value these three could provide to New Zealand if they were still coaching or working in New Zealand. Now I know Mains and Mitchell were not sacked, but my point is that we have a way of driving these guys away once the return from a world cup without any silverware.
These guys all would have learned from failure - don’t we all? They would have learned where they went wrong and maybe, just maybe they would have fixed it.
Should we give Graham Henry that chance?
Well, that depends . . . . . afterall he has a bit to learn.
- He needs to realise that the All Blacks need to be mentally fitter, not physically fitter.
- He needs to learn that even world class players like Dan Carter can lose form.
- He needs to learn that stable combinations play better than combinations that are changed game after game
- He needs to learn that he Wayne Barnes did not cost us the tournament - there are disturbing reports that he blames Barnes.
If the NZRU has an ounce of nous (nice rhyme huh) then they would ask him, what failure has taught him, and how those learnings will change they way he coaches our national rugby team.
If he is ready to learn from failure then lets keep him on - he’s a great coach and too good to turf out.

Let Graham stay. He is future proofing our rugby.
Keep a coach for ten years. The players might ‘mature’ with the same coach over a longer period of time. Graham, as a coach, can only get better.
Henry deserves another chance! Are we putting out a message that ‘mistakes are not allowe’? People learn from their mistakes, and thats the kind of things that make us stronger as human-beings. We are so obsessed with winning the Rugby World Cup. We pick a coach and players, then spend the next 4 years being obsessed about winning it, that we forget what great work that’s led up to that wonderful occassion. I believe that if we return to worrying about one game at a time, and putting on your strongest team every time you play an opporsition, the All Blacks will be as they once were. The GREATEST TEAM ON EARTH.
Henry has adnitted that the reconditioning programme did not work, so it will be interesting to see what changes he implements for the All Blacks training.
Lack of mental fitness not only affects the All Blacks, but also some of our national sports representatives eg. our NZ cricket team. This culture needs to be changed and I look forward to seeing how Henry and his coaching team inspire physically fit AND mentally fit players.
The real test will be the World Cup in four years time.
Graham Henry is 1 of the best coaches in N.Z. Just because we lost 1 world cup we should have won why should he be dumped. What did he do wrong. its simple…
I do not believe the drival I read in here about Henry. Look at his track record with all 3 major international Teams he has been involved in . Lost, Lost and of course Lost!! 3 strikes and out!! That is what I say. I now will not care about The All Blacks until he is removed which I predict will happen once Dean’s Wallabies decisively beat us.

why is it that we always ghange coachs every time we lose a world cup, i think that we should keep graham henry because he is the only coach that can make every other rugby team bow down to nz rugby, so if you keep him we might win the next world cup in nz, so god bless henry he is the man

lastnites game was shocking,pathetic and embarrasing.course allblaks need a new coach he`s to old not to mention thick and has eye problems with choosing his top players.get rid of him.and lets get real its ok to say the allblacks sucked maybe its time to give the jerseys to the new zealand maori team.i totally hope allblacks lose and thats not going to be hard for them to do.loooooooosssssseeeerrrrrssssss.

Let Graham stay. I’d rather have 2 losses now, then win everything right up to the world cup (like we’ve been doing over the past few years), then lose near the finals! We have a few things we need to work on, as every team does. I think what worked for us is the constant attack and winning our ball back. We had them in that part, but then we changed our tactics. Ma’a Nonu wasn’t given enough and proper ball and space. We can all see what he can do. Players need to understand how important that ball is (i.e. Sione Lauaki). Lets not blame anyone, and build on what we have and experienced on Saturday. For those who think they can do better, I think you haven’t played a real game of rugby in your life!! Finally, wheres ‘Kapa o Paongo’ gone to? We are sooooo PC! Stop being PC zombies and bring back Kapa o Paongo. The aussies said they’re going to cheat right from kick off, and they did and got away with it. Lets get that type of attitude back, and stop being PC idiots!
